Well Thailand is done and dusted…..have to be honest and say I was a little disappointed by some of the islands…We did a day trip touring around various islands…we were crammed on a speed boat with 60 other people, bit like sardines in a tin! We went to Maya Bay where they filmed the Beach….it was a stunning beach but just spoilt by us and hundreds of tourists. We got to jump off the boat and do some snorkelling….we managed to spot Finding Nemo where Andy practised his free diving and tried to get close to him for a photo…. 10 dives later I think we finally got a shot!
Went to Monkey island where there were literally dozens of monkeys running after small children on the beach! Final stop was Koh Phi Phi which we are both glad we didn’t end up staying on the island…. The actual beaches themselves are lovely but the place looked pretty tacky and its still not the high season yet!
We enjoyed our time in Krabi…. Despite the power cut for many hours, trying to find our way around the hotel and streets in the dark ….turned out there was a big night market down the road which was the cause…. drained all the power from our street!
We booked our ticket out of Thailand to head to Langkawi in Malaysia…. What we thought was an air conditioned bus and a ferry ride turned out to be two buses, a bike, two utes, a ferry, a taxi plus 10 hours later we finally arrived!
A few days by the pool, drinking mango mojitos at the night beach bar and doing pretty much nothing all day is what lies ahead for now… Its a hard life being a backpacker!
